Melvin Kinkle, a hapless paperboy in 1962 Chicago, accidentally falls into a vat at a candy factory and is transformed into a giant lemon-headed mutant. His bizarre appearance makes him an unlikely celebrity spokesperson for the new "Lemonheads" candy, but fame and success begin to change him. When a corrupt businessman threatens everything Melvin cares about, he must prove he's more than just a novelty act and become a true hero.
